What did you do this past week?

This past week I took a break from most of my school work. The semester has been going by fast and I needed to take a break. I registered on Wednesday and was able to sign up for my next classes which were good. Most of the classes were still open so I was able to pretty much register for anything I wanted to. It scared me a bit because I only have a year left, but I am excited for next semester.

What’s in your way?

I needed to take a break from most things. I was just feeling really tired so I really just attended some classes and such.

What will you do next week?

Next week I will work on the Life assignment. I will also be catching up on some things that I ignored last week for other classes. I need to get a lot done this week since we are getting to the end of the semester. I know there are a lot of things I need to do for my other classes.

If you read it, what did you think of the What Happens to Us Does Not Happen to Most of You?

The article made me both angry and sad. As a woman in CS it makes me worried to go into the workforce. I feel like I need to be careful about the places that I choose to work because I need to be sure they treat women fairly.

What was your experience of Life and inheritance? (this question will vary, week to week)

The life project seems really interesting. I haven’t started it yet but I will be working on it this week. I liked learning about inheritance in C++ to see the similarities and differences between in C++ and in Java.

What made you happy this week?

This week I had my final retreat for my sorority. It was bittersweet but I knew that it was time for me to leave so that I have more time to do other things I like now. My roommate also got a kitten so that’s exciting.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My pick of the week is a project I work on for my job. I work on it with another student. We are creating a virtual quantum optics lab. I think it’s cool so check it out at vqol.org if you want.
